Chilled below about 2.17 kelvin, liquid helium becomes a superfluid that creeps up and over the walls of its container in a film only tens of atoms thick, emptying an open cup by itself.

The film flows without viscosity, so gravity cannot hold it back, a dramatic everyday-scale display of quantum mechanics.
