Nintendo is older than the lightbulb-era companies you might expect; it began in Kyoto in 1889, when Fusajiro Yamauchi started making hand-crafted hanafuda flower cards, a full century before the Game Boy.
The company sold physical playing cards for roughly 80 years before it ever touched electronics, and it still prints hanafuda decks today.
